Theresa L. Markham

Theresa L. Markham, Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Godmother.

Theresa Loretta (Tremblay) Markham, age 75, a longtime resident of Dracut, Massachusetts and Lowell, Vermont passed away peacefully, in the loving care of her family at her beautiful log cabin home in Vermont on May 17th, 2023.

Theresa “T” was the cherished wife of David P. Markham, who will carry her memory and remain forever grateful for 55 years of treasured marriage, celebrated this past February 3rd, 2023.

Theresa was born in Lowell, MA on November 29, 1947, daughter of the late Roland E. Tremblay (1921-2016) and Pauline B. (Ste. Marie) Tremblay (1923-2019). She was a communicant and student of Saint Jeanne D’Arc School for her early education and was a 1965 graduate of Saint Joseph’s High School for girls, both in Lowell, MA. She was also a parishioner of Saint Francis Church, Dracut, MA. In her later life, Theresa received her associates degree and worked as an accountant at University of Massachusetts Lowell. However, her most prized role in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and godmother.

As a Wife, Theresa “T” showed tremendous amounts of love through their 55 years of marriage to David. As a Mother, Theresa, made her 4 children feel loved and would fill their lives with laughter and adventure. As a Mémé, she always made a point to make her 5 grandchildren feel cared about, even when there were miles between them. She would always send birthday cards, and even plan road trips to visit when they had birthday parties, graduations, and important milestones. She reveled in her grandkid’s achievements, and made them feel cherished when she showered them with praise.

Theresa was fondly called “toughie” as a nickname when she was in high school to characterize her fiery spirit. Her booming laugh could fill a room, along with her cheerful singing to her 60’s tunes. She took immense pride in her gardens, spending countless hours making the world look so beautiful. Her family will always remember her as a nature lover, enchanted by the outdoors and the wildlife surrounding her. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, playing card games like 45’s, cribbage and Uno, building puzzles, and teaching them how to get “bargains at yard sales.”

In addition to her loving husband, David, she is survived by her 4 children: Linda Markham of Dracut, Steven Markham of Nashua, NH, Paula (Markham) Osgood and her husband David of Newton, NH, and Kenneth Markham and his wife Lisa (Ayotte) Markham of North Andover. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Kimberlee (Markham) MacLellan, Mason Markham, Leah Markham, Samuel Osgood, and Alexander Osgood. She is also survived by 2 Godchildren, 12 siblings, many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In honoring Theresa’s last wish, her family had a celebration of life funeral mass, arranged by Mahoney’s Funeral Home, surrounded by her close immediate family on May 22nd, 2023 at Saint Francis Church, Dracut, MA and was buried at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell, MA.
