Rosario Vincent Collura

Rosario Vincent Collura, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at High Pointe House in Haverhill with his beloved family by his side. He was the husband of Carol (Mahoney) Collura, with whom he has spent over 40 years of marriage.

A son of the late Vincent Collura and the late Aida Grace (Brown) Collura, he was born on March 30, 1929 in East Boston. He was also raised and educated in the East Boston area and was a graduate of East Boston High School with the class of 1947. He then enrolled in Northeastern University (New England College of Pharmacy) and began his higher education. After his graduation, he was drafted into the United States army and served as an Army medic in the Korean War before he was honorably discharged. He returned home began his life’s work as a pharmacist.

Vincent worked as a pharmacist both locally and in Florida for over 55 years before his retirement. He mostly worked within CVS pharmacies, Katz pharmacies and in Florida, worked with veteran pharmacies in Port St. Richey. In his retirement he volunteered with the Lowell School System as a teacher for the rest of his life. Children held a special place in his heart whether it be his own family, his patients or his students. He loved spending time with his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an established poet, having written countles poems over the years. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots and loved to dance. Handicapping horse racing and dog racing was a science for him and he was very successful within that endeavor throughout his retirement.

He was a member of Italian American Clubs and the VFW in Lowell and in Florida, for many years. He was a communicant of St. William of York Church in Tewksbury.

Besides his beloved wife, Carol, of Lowell, he is survived by his children, including, Karen Hanley of Milford, Jay Monahan of Coral Springs, FL, Jane Barberio of Haverhill, Grace Tinoco of Katy, TX and Sheila Martin of Chelmsford, his 17 grandchildren, and his 8 great grandchildren and his is former wife, Phyllis Collura of Millbury. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

All are welcome to attend his funeral mass which will be offered on Wednesday, December 29 at 11:30 a.m. at St. William of York Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA. Following the funeral mass, in recognition of his service to his country, military funeral honors will be rendered including the sounding of taps and flag folding and presentation to the family.
