Neide A. (Amorim) Moreira

SOMERVILLE Neide A. (Amorim) Moreira, 61 of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Cambridge Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of Antonio S. Moreira, whom she would have shared their 28th wedding anniversary this coming December 26.

She was born in São Gabriel da Palha, Brazil on April 6, 1961 and was a daughter of the late Jose Francisco De Amorim and the late Lesita Rosa (Da Cunha) Amorim. She was raised and educated in Brazil, where she worked as a travel agent and owned some clothing boutiques, before relocating to the United States in 1991, settling in Somerville where she met her husband and started their family.

She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years at Courtyard Nursing Care Center and Somerville Hospital, before more working as a housekeeper until her retirement. She enjoyed crafts and decorating her home. Above all else, she cherished time spent with family and friends making memories.

In addition to her husband, Antonio Moreira of Somerville, she is survived by her daughter, Tracey Delgado and her husband, Moises of Woonsocket, RI; and her five stepchildren, Odilia Trio of Somerville, Celina Moreira of Cambridge, Sally Moreira of Arlington, Michael Moreira and his wife, Alyssa of Somerville, and Sandy Evans and her husband, Scott of Medford. She is also survived by her siblings, Carlos, Elias, Walter, Tania, and Joaira; and many step grandchildren, as well as her nieces, nephews, and cousins.

On Friday, September 30, 2022 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 9-11 a.m. at Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith Street, Lowell 978-452-6361. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by procession for burial at St. Mary Cemetery.     Tia Neide Amorim, eu gostaria muito de poder lhe dizer o quanto te amava, o quanto era importante para nós, me lembro do som da sua voz me chamando de sua bonequinha, de que queria apertar as minhas bochechas como fazia quando eu era criança, como me lembro das suas conversas com meu filho Miguel e ele dizendo: Mamãe, como gostaria de bater um papo com a Tia Neide, estou morrendo de saudades dela. Meu pai, Ezequias, seu irmão mais novo, a senhora me contando as histórias de quando eram crianças, que ele era o seu menino, era um dos mais novos. Minha mãe, Nete, como a senhora amava a sua cunhada, conversavam quase todos os dias, alguns dias até mais vezes porque dizia que gostava de conversar com ela. Muito obrigada, Deus, por ter me dado a oportunidade de ter tido essa Tia maravilhosa e pra sempre irei amar com todo o meu coração!!!
