Mattie Ruth (Maryland) Woodson

Mattie Ruth (Maryland) Woodson, 74, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, after a period of declining health. She was the widow of the late Charles Woodson.

A daughter of the late John R. Maryland and the late Mattie J. (Williams) Maryland, she was born July 11, 1949, in Wilson, North Carolina, and was raised and educated in that area. For many years, she made her home in Lowell where she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand children and great grandchildren and also enjoyed time watching television.

Mattie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years and also took care of family as a full time mother, grandmother, and most recently great grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Angela Jones and her husband, Antonio of Boston, Christopher Woodson of Lowell, and Rachel Artis-Woodson of Lowell; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her siblings, Joe Williams of Florida, Christine Doby of Lowell, and Linda Ford of Boston; her aunts, Christine Williams, Ruby McDougall, Frances Simmons and Lily Williams all of Lowell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

She was predeceased by her son, Jamison Woodson, and her siblings, Dale Maryland, Bobby Ray Maryland, Warren G. Maryland, Willie James Maryland, Iris Maryland, and Pamela Maryland; and her grand daughter, Klariese Cadorette.

You are invited to her visitation from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, 978-452-6361. Her service will be held at 12 noon followed by procession to Westlawn II Cemetery for burial. To leave the family a message of condolence, find us on facebook or use this website.
