Lynda Lu (Daily) Lillios

Lynda Lu (Daily) Lillios

Beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt.

Lynda Lu (Daily) Lillios, 85, longtime resident of the Belvidere neighborhood of Lowell, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 17, 2022, with her loving son and caregiver Nicholas by her side.

She was born at home on June 3, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the sixth of nine children of the late Harry and Gertrude (Blauwkamp) Daily. She loved to recount stories about her happy childhood in a busy and hardworking household, where theirs was the last home on the street to receive indoor plumbing, leading her father to transform one of their bedrooms into a bathroom, after which she slept three to a bed with her sisters.

After graduating from Lee High School, she joined the Army and was a U.S. Army Private serving in the Women’s Army Corp.  In 1956, she met her husband, the late Peter Lillios, at Fort Dix in New Jersey. They shared over 60 years of marriage. Soon after they met, they moved to Boston, where she worked as an executive secretary at the Hearthstone Insurance Company. They eventually settled in Roslindale, where she raised their four children.

When her youngest child was in elementary school, she worked for her husband’s company and eventually spent many years working for Teledyne Technologies, where she was promoted to Team Leader and was highly respected by her colleagues.

True to her Dutch heritage, she was a meticulous homemaker and she took pride and satisfaction in creating a beautiful home for her family. She was a skilled and gifted cook who could turn an everyday dinner into a feast. She could often be found in the kitchen, whistling tunes to the radio or listening to the birds singing. She loved the cardinals.

Generous in spirit and quiet in demeanor, she did not seek the limelight but touched many family members, neighbors, and friends with her kindness.

Her chapter as a grandmother was one her happiest. She filled Christmas Eve celebrations with excitement and joy, transforming her living room into a winter wonderland filled with gifts and her homemade Christmas cookies.

She had a natural intuition when it came to caring for and interacting with babies and young children and always connected with her grandchildren individually in quiet, ordinary ways. As they got older, she loved watching their imaginative home performances. Even in her later years as a great-grandmother, Lynda would hold each of her great-grandchildren with ease and grace.

She is survived by her 4 children, Victoria St. Hilaire and her husband, Timothy, of Portland, Maine, Loretta Lillios and her husband, Sam Wolman, of Natick, Nicholas Lillios of Lowell, and Christina Nolan of Natick; her 4 grandchildren, Peter N. Lillios II and his wife, Sarah, Maria McBride and her husband, Ben, Sofia Wolman, and Violet Nolan; her 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Winna, and Theo McBride; her sister, Dona Johnson and her brother-in-law, Larry, of Tarzana, California; her sister-in-law Georgia Daily of Canoga Park, California; and her brother-in-law William (Bill) Lillios and his wife, Amy of Cleveland, Tennessee, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven of her siblings: Lloyd Daily, Dale Daily, Lou Jean Kruizenga, Darlene Stratton, Jerald Daily, Karel Monroe, and Gwendolyn Daily.

A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends in the Fall. Arrangements by Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith Street, Lowell, MA 978-452-6361. Please find us on facebook or visit www.MahoneyFuneralHome.com to leave the family a message of condolence at any time.
