Katherine ‘Kitty’ (Alexander) Alvarez

LOWELL Katherine ‘Kitty’ (Alexander) Alvarez, 87 of Lowell, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Apple Valley Center in Ayer, MA. She was born in Ocilla, Georgia on March 19, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Essiel Alexander.
She was raised and educated in Fitzgerald, Georgia, where she lived until the 1960’s when she relocated to Massachusetts. She was employed at the Bedford VA as a nurses aide for many years.
For the last 20 years she has lived at Bishop Markham Village in Lowell. She enjoyed sitting out front of her house watching the street with her friends. Kitty will be remembered for her generosity, she was always ready to help someone in need.
Kitty is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Simmons and her husband, Wayne of Lowell; four grandchildren, Darrel Alexander, Damon Alexander, Katherine F. Simmons, and Sarah S. Simmons, all of Lowell; her great grandchildren, Travon Alexander, Kashuan Alexander, Damon Alexander, Deshon Daniels, Malik Ryan, Jordan Alexander, Jada Ryan, Jealand Alexander; and her great cousin, Ann Searcy.
She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Diane Alexander who passed away in 2017.
