Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Joan Parent

Joan B. (Donahue) Parent, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at High Pointe Hospice House. She was the beloved widow of the late Leo A. Parent with whom she had shared 45 years of marriage prior to his death in 2002.

A daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Lupold) Donahue, she was born October 23, 1935, in Lowell and was raised and educated in Tewksbury and Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro. She then attended Lowell State Teachers’ College.

She worked at the Reilly Elementary School in Lowell for more than thirty years. She also taught at the Sullivan Middle School, prior to her retirement in 2000. In addition, family was her center. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with her whole heart and soul.

Her survivors include her children, Joanne Chapman-Louis and her husband, Harry, of Maine, Diane Litton and her husband, Nicholas, of Falmouth, Marianne Parent of Lowell, and Leo Parent and his wife, Anne, of Byfield; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother, George Donahue of Vermont; and nieces and nephews as well as the many friends she made throughout her lifetime.

To the entire Parent family thinking of you but most importantly you are in my prayers during this time. Marianne someday in heaven right next to your mother you have a set spot. The care that you provided for your mother will always have a spiritual place between only you and your mother. I will miss a teacher, mentor, friend, and all the maternal love that she showed me once my mother had passed. So much comfort knowing that my mother and Mrs. Parent have reunited to share the beautiful friendship they once had here on earth and exist now in heaven.
    Love, Donna

To the entire Parent family. Joan will be sorely missed at the lake. She (as well as Leo) was a constant fixture there. Nose always in a book. Cheerful greetings. We are glad #3 will remain in the family. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers. God speed that she is home at last.
