Janet I. ‘Nana’ Mackey

LOWELL Janet I. (Morris) Mackey, affectionately known to most as ‘Nana”, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Greystone Farm in Salem, New Hampshire, with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved widow of the late Walter J. Mackey who died in 2014 after Fifty Eight years of Marriage.

A daughter of the late John Morris and the late Yvonne (Deschene) Morris, she was born November 4, 1933, in Lowell and was raised and educated in the City, graduating from Lowell High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, and made her lifelong home in Lowell where she raised her family until her recent move to Salem, New Hampshire.

Nana loved to travel with her late husband, Walter, and especially cherished her trips to the Cape and to Maine with family and friends. She was an avid Nascar fan, loved watching soap operas and the game show channel, and enjoyed reading the newspaper.

Her survivors include her children, Cheryl Conceicao of Hudson, NH, Gail LeBlanc and her husband, Warren, of Lowell, and John Mackey and his wife, Nancy, of Pelham, NH; her grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Rachael, Sean and his partner, Georgia, Adam and his wife, Michelle, Alicia and her husband, Josh, Amanda and her husband, Dylan, Ariana and her husband, Mike, and Joshua and his partner, Olivia; her great grand children, Ava, Lea, Denzer, Crew, Elliana, Hudson, and Henley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends including her good friends Pat and Don.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH, for the kind and compassionate care bestowed on Janet up until her final days.

You are invited to Her Calling Hours 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, October 2, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, 978-452-6361. On Tuesday, Her Funeral will begin at 9 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by Her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 East Merrimack Street, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
