LOWELL Jacob ‘Jake’ Ajemian, affectionately known as ‘Hagop’, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at Aspen Hill in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving widower of the late Louise M. (Ryan) Ajemian who died in 2012.
A son of the late Ajem Ajemian and the late Araxie Tarpinian, he was born February 14, 1928, in Hampton, New Hampshire. He grew up in Hampton and moved with his family to Lowell at an early age, graduating from Lowell High School. After High School, he served with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952.
Mr. Ajemian worked as a bindery mechanic in Publishing and Manufacturing for Courier Citizen in Lowell, retiring in the 1980’s.
Hagop enjoyed life, especially time spent with family. He also enjoyed gardening, watching sports, going to the Track and betting on horses, and also enjoyed traveling as well, especially to Aruba with his wife when they were younger. His fondest memories were time spent with family at Hampton Beach, and anytime spent with his beloved grandson, Ryan. In addition, he loved animals, especially his cat.
His survivors include his children, David J. Ajemian and his companion, Mary Beth Gualtieri, of Lowell, Gary P. Ajemian and his wife, Terry, of Atkinson, NH, and Nancy J. Harris and her husband, Roy, of Brockton; his grandson, Ryan L. Ajemian of Atkinson, NH; as well as his good family friend, Kathryn Geyer of Andover and many nieces and nephews and the friends and acquaintances he made throughout his lifetime.
He was predeceased by his brother, George Ajemian and his wife, Gloria, as well a his brother in law, Joseph F. Ryan and his wife Beatrice, and sister in law, Mary V. Brown and her husband Ernest.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, all are welcome to attend his visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. at Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford, MA. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church followed by burial at Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell.
