Christine E. ‘Chris’ (Lander) Souza, of Lowell, MA formerly of Billerica, MA passed away on November 1, 2023 at the age of 57 after a long gallant battle with ALS. Born on January 5, 1966, she was the daughter of Harvey J. Lander (previously deceased) and Mary (MacInnis) Lander.
Christine leaves behind her children, Ashley, of Tyngsboro, Matthew, and Emily Souza, of Lowell, MA. Her life partner David MacEachern and former spouse Stephen Souza, who cared for her during the years she battled the most horrible disease and were by her side until her last breath.
She was the beloved sister of Linda Fraize who is previously deceased, Nancy Cormier and her husband Paul of Townsend, MA, Patricia Vivilecchia and her husband Demian of Somers, CT. She has many nieces and nephews that will feel her absence in a mighty way as she brought so much love and joy to their lives. She also leaves behind a granddaughter, she did not live long enough to meet, and many friends who loved and cared for her to include life-long friends Susan (Higgins) Bowley, and Christine Gravelle.
Christine had many life accomplishments which included running many triathlons and marathons, which includes being a three time Boston Marathon runner. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, and any activity that would bring her outside. She earned two degrees in her life-time a culinary degree, and then later in life she pursued and earned a degree in Psychology. Christine truly loved her career as an Applied Behavioral Analyst where she had a special connection with all her students who looked forward to seeing her every day. Many of Christine’s students considered her their best friend.
The loss of Christine will leave a hole in the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her for the remainder of their lives.
Family and friends may call at MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST, LOWELL on WEDNESDAY, NOV. 8, 2023 from 5 until 8 PM. Christine’s FUNERAL will begin on THURSDAY MORNING at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home, followed by her FUNERAL MASS at 10:00 AM at ST THERESA’S CHURCH 466 Boston Road, Billerica. Burial will take place in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christine’s memory to Compassionate Care ALS www.ccals.org.
