Arthur Tingas
1963 – 2025

LOWELL – Arthur Tingas, 61, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Socratis S. Tingas and the late Vasiliki “Kiki” (Cocalis) Tingas.

Arthur grew up in Lowell and received his education in both Lowell and Andover. From an early age, he found his passion in the family business, Olympia Restaurant, a cherished staple in the city. As co-owner alongside his cousin, Kostas Cocalis, Arthur dedicated his life to upholding the legacy his father built, ensuring that Olympia remained a welcoming place where generations of customers gathered for good food and great company. He poured his heart into the restaurant, treating patrons like family and taking immense pride in serving the Lowell community.

Arthur’s warmth, generosity, and devotion to his work left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Whether greeting customers, sharing stories, or ensuring that every detail in the restaurant was just right, he made Olympia more than just a place to eat—it was a home away from home for many.

He is survived by his brother, Stefanos Tingas and his wife, Penny, of North Carolina; his sister, Nancy Bhatia and her husband, Indru, of California; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him with love.

His funeral service will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 11AM at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Road in Dracut, MA. Friends and relatives are welcome to gather at the church between 10am and 11am. Burial in the Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell, MA. Arrangements by the Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith Street, Lowell, MA 01852, www.mahoneyfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the Bridge Club of Greater Lowell https://www.bridgeclubofgreaterlowell.org an organization dedicated to finding a path to wellness for those in recovery.

So sorry to hear of Arties passing. Many great times and memories. For many years, Artie would FedEx me backed lamb and garnish when I moved to North Carolina. Always looked forward to seeing him at the Olympia when I would come back to Lowell. I will miss that.
