Laurie Ann (Cheetham) Watkins, 66, of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Holy Family Hospital after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Steven W. Watkins with whom she celebrated their Thirty First Wedding Anniversary.
A daughter of the late Frank A. and the late Helen E. (Mangan) Cheetham, she was born July 8, 1958, in Lowell and was raised and educated in Dracut, graduating from Dracut High School, Class of 1976.
After her marriage in 1993, she and Steven started their family, with him stationed in the United States Air Force. In the late 1990’s they moved to Hickhman Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii to, then to San Antonio in 2002 at Lackland Air Force Base until his retirement in 2006. They then moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon before finally returning to New England in 2021, where they settled in Derry, New Hampshire.
She had worked as a medical assistant for six years and had also worked in day care and substitute teaching. She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and time spent with her family.
Her survivors include her husband, Steven; her children, Roan Mangan of Portland, Oregon and Kevin Watkins of Seattle, Washington; her siblings, Mary (Cheetham) Lynch of Dracut, Anne (Cheetham) Wightman of Gloucester, Catherine (Cheetham) (Nierenberg) of Boxford, and Christopher Cheetham of Dracut; her nieces and nephews, Mark Lynch Jr. of Folsom, LA, Erin (Lynch) O’Keefe of Dracut, Brian Wightman of Lowell, Matthew Cheetham of Georgetown, Morgan Cheetham of Dracut, and Braydon Cheetham of Dracut; and her great nieces and great nephews, Hailie Wightman of Dracut, Xena O’Keefe of Dracut, and Jack Lynch of Folsom, LA.
Close friends and family are invited to her visitation on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, Lowell 978-452-6361. Her funeral services, which will immediately follow, will be held privately for immediate family.
