Wilfred Adonis Henry, 86, affectionately known as “Archie”, went home to be in the everlasting arms of our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Coralie Carr Henry, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage before her passing in November 2023.
Born in St.Paul’s village in St.Kitts on January 14, 1940, Archie was the son of the late George W. Lewis and the late Eleanor Henry. At early adulthood Archie set out on his own and left St. Kitts for the island of St. Croix, where he would reside for all of his adult life.
Adventurous at heart, he was also a gifted musician who played with a steel band. He was offered the opportunity to travel to England with the band but decided to stay on his beloved island. He shared his love of music with the younger generation, mentoring children and assisting them discover their own talents.
Archie’s first official job was in construction prior to him becoming a school bus driver, a job he held for many years and one that made him a familiar face across the island. He later worked at the oil refinery for many years and also had side gigs as a taxi driver and tour guide. As a tour guide his knowledge of the island afforded him the opportunity to share the beauty and history of St. Croix with visitors. He loved the island dearly and never wanted to be away for too long. He enjoyed early morning swim and walks at the beach. He took great pleasure in a scenic drive and was a wonderful storyteller whose tales will be fondly remembered by all who heard them. In his retirement years, he spent time transporting his grandchildren to and from school and various activities, as well as traveling abroad visiting family and friends. It was in recent months Archie came to Massachusetts until God called him home.
