In 1954, near the end of the Korean War, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force and was immediately deployed to Korea. He was a career veteran who honorably served for over 20 years, including assignments in France, Germany, and Guam. During his service, he worked in the Auditor General’s Office for the Air Force. His stateside assignments included White Sands, Arizona, and Hanscom Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

Dick owned and operated First Real Estate for over 25 years. He also served as a purchasing agent at St. John’s for several years and briefly at the Bedford VA. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV, and VFW. In 2011, he participated in the “iPods for Wounded Veterans” program, distributing iPods to veterans at Walter Reed Hospital.

He enjoyed taking walks, spending time at casinos—especially Foxwoods—visiting the Amish in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and traveling to Lake George. He also liked watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He had a great sense of humor and was easygoing, wonderful, and kind—a loving and gentle soul.
